AIRCOM appointed by Telecoms Networks Malawi (TNM) to deliver network optimisation services

Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009

AIRCOM International, the leading independent network planning and optimisation consultancy, has been selected by one of Africa’s premier  operators Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) to provide network performance, optimisation and management services for its multi-vendor network.

TNM has purchased ASSET, CONNECT and OPTIMA from AIRCOM’s ENTERPRISE suite to replace tools from two different vendors. The products were selected for their ease of integration within a multi-vendor network and also for their use of a centralised database, meaning that valuable network performance data may be integrated and shared throughout the business.

TNM chose ASSET to plan and design its 2G radio network. TNM, like half of ASSET customers also chose to implement CONNECT for microwave backhaul planning. And to ensure consistent network performance, TNM is also rolling out OPTIMA, AIRCOM’s performance management tool. All three products will be deployed within two months.

“Choosing AIRCOM for our network performance requirements was a simple decision for us,” said David Chetty, chief technical officer at TNM. “We had previous experience of using its solutions to optimise the performance of our mobile network, and in head-to-head tests with other vendors, AIRCOM was the clear winner. AIRCOM’s prompt, professional service and its expertise throughout the lifecycle of our network made it the clear choice for answering our network needs.”

“The lack of existing fixed line infrastructure in Africa means subscribers have greater dependency on mobile networks,” commented Graham Kemp, Regional CEO, Africa. “TNM appointed AIRCOM as it is committed to delivering the best possible service quality to its customers and safeguarding its existing revenue streams by reducing churn.”
