NEC Enhances its Business Structure for Middle East and African Regions

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the establishment of its new Middle East and Africa business operations in Turkey. The new entity, NEC Telecommunication and Information Technology Ltd. (NECTIT; Headquarters: Istanbul, Turkey; Representative: Hironobu Kurosaki), is a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Europe Ltd.

NEC will provide wireless communication hardware products and total solutions that cover a broad range of non-hardware services, such as product and service customization as well as new and existing engineering services and products and maintenance support for Turkey and other markets in the Middle East and Africa.

"We have formed this new business structure in order to meet our customers' business needs in the Middle East and Africa by harnessing local know-how and experience with our world-class expertise and knowledge of telecommunications and IT," said Nobuyuki Yanaginuma, Associate Senior Vice President of NEC Corporation and President of NEC Europe Ltd. "With the establishment of our new Middle East and Africa entity we plan to expand our business in this region while enhancing integrated functions, improving the efficiency of operations and carrying out governance through activities such as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)".

"NEC installed its first satellite communication system in Turkey in the 1960s and business has expanded into a wide variety of systems that include PASOLINK, an ultra-compact microwave communications system, as well as broadcasting systems, automated mail sorting systems." said Hironobu Kurosaki, President of NECTIT. "We plan to grow sales and look forward to providing our customers with the carrier-grade solutions that will help them to innovate and deploy new services such as cloud computing."

In addition, NEC plans to expand locally driven IT related business such as security solutions that include biometric solutions and cloud computing systems, as well as wireless communication solutions such as femtocell solutions.
