Redline Communications wins coveted fierce award for industry innovation

Friday, Nov 16, 2012

TORONTO, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Redline Communications (www.rdlcom.com Group Inc. TSX: RDL), a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications announced today that it has been recognized by the coveted Fierce Innovation Awards, an operator-reviewed awards program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable.

Redline's RAS Nomadic Platform received top honors in the Backhaul Innovation category.

Easy to mount, set up and operate, the RAS Nomadic Platform was specifically designed without any moving parts for reliable operation in remote areas such as oil fields. RAS is the first wireless broadband networking system that instantly locates, aligns and connects to a network base station, automatically establishing reliable high bandwidth connectivity between roving assets. This increases employee efficiency and reduces human error. Ideal for wireless backhaul applications, RAS easily enables real-time M2M communications, SCADA, automation control, high definition video, Wi-Fi and VOIP directly to a vehicle, rig, portable office or other movable asset - in areas where traditional service providers don't go.

Judges evaluated the RAS entry based on technology innovation, financial impact, market validation and end-user customer experience.

Winners were selected by an exclusive panel of carrier-only judges including Stephen Bye, CTO and VP of Technology Development & Strategy at Sprint; Mattias Fridstrom, VP and Head of Technology at TeliaSonera Internation; Abhi Ingle, VP of Ecosystem and Innovation at AT&T; Tom Nagel, SVP of Business Development & Strategy, for Communications & Data Services at Comcast Cable; Todd Smith, Director of Media Relations at Cox Communications; and Jim Wales, Executive Director of Networks at Verizon.

"FierceMarkets publications are well known for highlighting leading technology innovators whose products shape the market, and to be recognized with top honors in the Fierce Innovations Awards is particularly exciting for the team at Redline who developed RAS," said Rob Williams, COO and head of R&D at Redline. "Because Redline prides itself on our history of innovation and industry firsts, recognition by a panel of judges who truly understand the technology challenges of the broadband industry makes this award all the more important to us."
